Sub Branch History

On Saturday 13th October 1923, the Geebung memorial Hall was officially opened. This building was to become the home of the Geebung Zillmere Sub Branch RSL.

On the 30th April, 1945 a meeting was held in the Geebung Memorial Hall to form a Sub Branch of the RSSAILA Queensland Branch. During the meeting, it was successfully moved that the Sub Branch be named Geebung Zillmere Sub Branch as part of the South-Eastern District RSL. Mr H M Beeston was elected President of the Sub Branch. An account for 14/9d was submitted for stationery, badges etc. The President of South Eastern District said that the district would be only too happy to meet this claim.

In 1949 the Women’s Auxiliary was formed to provide support to the Sub Branch by catering for the smokos and dinners.
In 1992 faced with an ageing membership, the Bald-Hills, Aspley Sub Branch sought amalgamation with the Geebung, Zillmere Sub Branch. This approach was welcomed, and Bald-Hills, Aspley Sub Branch and Geebung, Zillmere Sub Branch amalgamated to form the Geebung-Zillmere, Bald-Hills, Aspley Sub Branch RSL. Mr S. Bradley was the Foundation President.

In 2016 the premises name changed to Geebung RSL when the Sub Branch unified with the Services Memorial Association
