Sub Branch History

The Kedron Sub Branch was founded after War I. In 1928 it built its headquarters, the Kedron War Memorial School of Arts. It was deeded to the Kedron Sub Branch in 1947.

The Wavell Heights Sub Branch was formed between the end of World War II in 1945 and 1950 and operated from Edinburgh Castle Road, Wavell Heights.

In 1968 Kedron Sub Branch and Wavell Sub Branch amalgamated to use their combined resources to create an Ex-Servicemen’s Club, becoming Kedron-Wavell Sub Branch.

In 1970 the building of a public Community Hall and adjoining Club premises was commenced at its current location in Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside and the Kedron-Wavell Sub Branch opened in 18 December 1970, when the Kedron-Wavell Services Club was licensed for business.

Kedron-Wavell Sub Branch RSL has an active participation in the welfare of both its members and the community at large.
In the Brisbane RSL District North, Kedron-Wavell is a grassroots organisation encouraging both former and current members of the defence service to join the sub-branch and be part of the development of the next generation while caring for and remembering those who have come before us.

Each year the Sub Branch conducts numerous events to foster the welfare of members and the promotion of the Australian Defence Force.

The Sub Branch invites all its members to attend its General Meetings and Annual General.
